Facebook and Instagram Services Disrupted Worldwide, Including Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Social media platforms Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta, experienced a widespread outage on Sunday, affecting users in Pakistan and several other countries around the world. The disruption left thousands of users unable to access their accounts or use the platforms normally.

According to user reports, individuals attempting to log into Facebook and Instagram through web browsers were greeted with a message stating that their accounts were “temporarily unavailable” due to a site-related issue. The message advised users to try again later as the problem was being addressed.

Outage tracking website Downdetector recorded a sharp spike in complaints beginning at around 1:00 p.m. Pakistan time, with users from multiple regions reporting login failures and service interruptions.

The disruption appeared to be global in nature, impacting users across various countries. Many reported difficulties accessing their profiles, while others experienced issues with loading feeds and other platform features.

As of the latest reports, Meta had not issued an official statement explaining the cause of the outage or providing an estimated timeline for the restoration of services.
