Four Men Stabbed Near London’s Covent Garden; Woman Arrested in Suspected Mental Health-Related Incident

London: Four men were injured in a stabbing incident near London’s popular Covent Garden district on Wednesday after a woman allegedly attacked them in what police believe was an isolated incident linked to mental health issues.

According to the Metropolitan Police, a 47-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. Officers recovered a pair of scissors, which they believe was used in the attack. The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue.

The attack occurred on Endell Street, approximately a quarter of a mile from Covent Garden, one of London’s busiest tourist destinations, renowned for its theatres, restaurants, and street performances. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene after receiving reports of the incident shortly before 12:30 p.m. local time.

The victims, aged 34, 39, 42, and 52, sustained stab wounds and were treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby major trauma centre by the London Ambulance Service. Authorities later confirmed that none of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening, with two of the victims discharged after treatment while the remaining two continued to receive medical care.

Police said early investigations indicate the attack was random and there is currently no evidence to suggest it was terrorism-related. Officers have reassured the public that there is no ongoing threat and that the incident is being treated as an isolated case.

Authorities have appealed for witnesses and anyone with relevant information or video footage to assist with the ongoing investigation as detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
