Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev Extends Congratulations to Portuguese Counterpart on National Day

BAKU: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Portuguese Republic on the occasion of Portugal’s national day, the Azerbaijani Presidency announced on Saturday.

In his message, President Aliyev conveyed sincere congratulations and best wishes on his own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan to the Portuguese leadership and people.

“On my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and, through you, to all your people on the occasion of the national holiday of the Portuguese Republic,” the letter stated.

He expressed confidence that Azerbaijan and Portugal would continue to strengthen their bilateral relations, which are based on mutual respect, and further expand cooperation in various fields.

“I am confident that we will continue our joint efforts to develop Azerbaijan-Portugal relations, which are built on mutual respect, and to strengthen our cooperation,” President Aliyev wrote.

On the occasion, President Aliyev also extended wishes for good health and happiness to the Portuguese President and lasting prosperity and well-being to the people of Portugal.

“On this remarkable day, I wish you good health and happiness, and the friendly people of Portugal lasting prosperity and well-being,” he added.

The letter was issued from Baku on 8 June 2026.
