UK Foreign Secretary Commends Pakistan’s Efforts for Regional Peace and Stability

ISLAMABAD: British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has praised Pakistan’s sustained efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, acknowledging Islamabad’s constructive role in facilitating the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran through Pakistani mediation.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the appreciation came during a telephone conversation between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his British counterpart, during which the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and key regional developments.

Cooper reiterated the United Kingdom’s recognition of Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement in advancing dialogue and de-escalation, describing the country’s contribution to regional peace as significant. She also reaffirmed Britain’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Pakistan on issues of mutual concern.

During the conversation, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to resolving regional and international disputes through dialogue, diplomacy and constructive engagement. He emphasized that Pakistan would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting lasting peace and stability.

The two foreign ministers also reviewed bilateral ties and agreed to remain in close contact to further enhance cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom across a range of areas.

The British acknowledgement follows growing international recognition of Pakistan’s role in facilitating diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran, with several countries expressing support for Islamabad’s efforts to promote regional stability.
