ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that around 80 percent of suicide bombers involved in attacks in Pakistan are Afghan nationals, stressing that Afghanistan must prevent its territory from being used for terrorism against Pakistan.
In an interview with Arab media, the DG ISPR said Pakistan’s primary and concrete demand from the Afghan Taliban government was to stop terrorist activities originating from Afghan soil. He stated that Afghan citizens were present in formations entering Pakistan from Afghanistan.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan would retain its right to self-defence if the Afghan Taliban authorities failed to fulfil their commitments under the Doha Agreement.
He also said that Pakistan remained committed to supporting Saudi Arabia’s security and was prepared to go to any extent to protect the country and the holy sites. He noted that Pakistan’s political and military leadership remained in continuous contact with the Saudi leadership.
Regarding the security situation in Balochistan, the DG ISPR said terrorist groups did not enjoy public support and were attempting to impose their ideology through force. He further alleged that India was sponsoring terrorism and that social media operations were being conducted from abroad.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s policy was clear and that there would be no dialogue with terrorists.
