Russian Air Strikes Injure Two in Kyiv and Odesa, Ukrainian Officials Say

Moscow claims it targeted military-linked logistics, data and shipping facilities

Russian air strikes overnight injured two people in Ukraine, one in the capital Kyiv and another in the Black Sea port city of Odesa, Ukrainian officials said on Thursday.

The casualties were reported by Ukraine’s emergency services and an Odesa city official in statements posted on the Telegram messaging app.

Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa city administration, said infrastructure in the city had been damaged in the attack but did not give further details. Odesa is a frequent target of Russian strikes, as Moscow seeks to disrupt Ukraine’s maritime exports and deprive the country of vital revenue.

In a separate Telegram statement, Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had struck a logistics hub in Kyiv, a data centre in Odesa and a cargo vessel in the nearby port of Chornomorsk. The ministry claimed that all three targets were being used for military purposes. Ukrainian officials did not immediately respond to Moscow’s claims.

The latest strikes come as Russia has stepped up attacks on the Ukrainian capital since August, carrying out frequent drone and missile raids.
