LAHORE – Pakistan fast bowler Kainat Imtiaz has announced her retirement from international cricket, bringing to a close a career in which she represented her country in 19 One-Day Internationals and 21 Twenty20 Internationals, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Kainat was a member of the Pakistan women’s teams that won gold medals at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014, two of the most notable achievements in the history of women’s cricket in the country.
She played her last ODI against Australia in January 2023, while her final T20 International appearance came against Thailand in October 2022.
Even before her formal retirement, Kainat had begun building a career in other areas of the game. She moved into cricket commentary and has recently started working as a match referee in women’s cricket.
Cricket runs in her family. Her mother, Saleema Imtiaz, is Pakistan’s first woman umpire to be included in the International Cricket Council’s International Development Panel. She has so far officiated in nine women’s ODIs and 69 women’s T20 Internationals.
