US Military Completes New Wave of Strikes on Iranian Targets, Including Bandar Abbas

WASHINGTON: The United States military announced it has completed its latest wave of strikes against Iranian military targets, including facilities in Bandar Abbas, Iran’s principal port city on the strategic Strait of Hormuz, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate.

According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation was conducted under the direction of President Donald Trump and targeted Iranian command centres, air defence systems, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities. The military said the strikes were intended to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping and regional security.

Bandar Abbas, home to Iran’s largest commercial port and key naval and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facilities, is regarded as one of the country’s most strategically significant military and maritime hubs due to its location overlooking the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil transit route.

The latest operation forms part of an ongoing U.S. military campaign targeting Iranian military infrastructure amid heightened regional tensions. While CENTCOM confirmed the successful completion of the mission, it did not immediately provide details on the extent of the damage or possible casualties resulting from the strikes.

The strikes come as concerns grow over the potential for further escalation in the Middle East, with international observers closely monitoring developments due to their implications for regional stability, maritime security and global energy markets.
