ISLAMABAD: Romania’s rich cultural heritage and natural identity will be showcased through contemporary fashion at Cultural Colors Season 5, where Fashion Department students of the Niftysphere Institute of Arts and Design will present a specially designed couture ensemble inspired by the Eurasian lynx, Romania’s national animal.
The fashion presentation seeks to translate the lynx’s distinctive qualities of strength, elegance, mystery and natural beauty into a contemporary artistic expression. Drawing visual inspiration from Romania’s heritage and landscapes, the ensemble will combine creative design and craftsmanship to offer audiences a unique interpretation of Romanian cultural identity.
The Romania-focused segment has been conceived as an expression of cultural diplomacy through fashion, providing a creative platform to promote cultural appreciation and strengthen people-to-people connections between Pakistan and Romania.
Through the runway presentation, the students aim to demonstrate how fashion can serve as a powerful medium for communicating cultural values and creating meaningful connections between nations. The representation of Romania through design, artistry and craftsmanship is intended to highlight mutual respect and appreciation while presenting the country’s cultural identity in a positive and innovative manner.
The initiative forms part of the broader vision of Cultural Colors Season 5, which seeks to bring different cultures together through art, fashion, creativity and international cultural exchange. By interpreting national symbols through contemporary artistic expression, the programme provides young designers with an opportunity to explore global cultures while developing their own creative perspectives.
The Eurasian lynx serves as the central inspiration for the Romanian presentation, symbolizing the strength, character and natural beauty associated with the country. Through its transformation into couture, the symbol becomes a visual representation of the potential of fashion to transcend geographical and cultural boundaries.
The initiative underscores the growing role of creative industries as instruments of cultural diplomacy, demonstrating that art and fashion can complement traditional diplomatic engagement by fostering understanding and positive international relations.
The Romania presentation at Cultural Colors Season 5 is therefore expected to serve not only as a fashion showcase but also as a celebration of Pakistani creativity, Romanian heritage and the shared human values that connect cultures across borders.
