Iranian President Visits Pakistan as US-Iran Negotiators Work Toward Final Peace Agreement

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for high-level talks with Pakistani leaders, as Tehran and Washington continue efforts to finalize a comprehensive agreement aimed at ending months of regional conflict and easing tensions across the Middle East.

According to reports, Pakistan has played a significant mediating role in the ongoing diplomatic process between the United States and Iran. The Iranian president’s visit comes shortly after senior American and Iranian officials held negotiations in Switzerland, where both sides reportedly made progress toward a framework for a permanent peace accord.

Technical teams from both countries are currently working on the details of the proposed agreement, which is expected to address sanctions relief, nuclear oversight mechanisms, regional security arrangements, and efforts to prevent further escalation in conflict zones, including Lebanon.

One of the key issues under discussion remains the future role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in monitoring Iranian nuclear facilities. While U.S. officials have indicated that inspections could resume under the agreement, Iranian authorities have stated that no visits by international inspectors have yet been scheduled.

Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are also focused on maintaining a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. A proposed mechanism aimed at preventing renewed clashes has generated mixed reactions, with Israeli officials expressing reservations while international mediators continue consultations on broader regional security arrangements.

President Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of mutual commitment to negotiated agreements and expressed hope that sustained dialogue would contribute to long-term regional stability.
