HANGZHOU: Daniil Medvedev defeated fellow Russian Andrey Rublev 7-5, 6-4 in the final to win the Hangzhou Open title on Tuesday, strengthening his bid to return to the ATP Finals in Turin.
The top-seeded Medvedev produced an impressive serving performance during the 93-minute final, hitting 23 aces and committing only two double faults.
The victory marked the 30-year-old’s third title of the 2026 season, following his triumphs in Brisbane and Dubai. It was also the 24th tour-level title of his career and his 22nd on hard courts.
Medvedev, currently ranked world No. 6, is seeking a return to the season-ending ATP Finals after missing qualification last year for the first time since 2018.
Following his victory, Medvedev praised Rublev during the trophy ceremony and expressed hope that both players could maintain their strong form through the remainder of the season.
Medvedev will next travel to Beijing for the China Open, where he is scheduled to face qualifier Pablo Carreno Busta in the first round.
