ISLAMABAD: Pakistan clinched the Central Asian Volleyball Championship title after defeating Bangladesh in straight sets in the final played in Islamabad, completing the tournament with an unbeaten record.
The hosts produced a commanding performance to overcome Bangladesh 25-20, 25-16, 25-20, securing the championship without dropping a set in the final. Six teams participated in the tournament, with Pakistan remaining undefeated throughout the competition.
Sri Lanka finished third after defeating Uzbekistan in the playoff for the bronze medal.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the national volleyball team on its historic achievement, praising the players, coaches and management for their outstanding performance. He said the team’s excellent display of skill and teamwork had brought pride to the nation and demonstrated the immense potential of Pakistan’s youth in sports.
The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting sports and extending full support to talented athletes to help them excel at the international level.
