Pakistani President Calls Tree Conservation and Plantation a National Responsibility

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has described the protection of trees and promotion of plantation as a national responsibility and an important priority, urging collective efforts to build a greener and climate-resilient Pakistan.

In a message issued on the occasion of the launch of the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026, the president said the campaign has set a target of planting 20 million saplings across the country.

President Zardari emphasized that forests play a vital role in preserving biodiversity, protecting water resources and safeguarding the environment. He stressed that expanding forest cover is essential to addressing the adverse impacts of climate change.

He called for concerted efforts to create a clean, green and climate-resilient Pakistan, emphasizing that environmental protection requires sustained participation from all segments of society.

The president further said that trees planted today would serve as a guarantee of a healthier and better future for coming generations. He urged citizens to actively participate in plantation and conservation initiatives and contribute to strengthening the country’s environmental resilience.

The Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 is aimed at expanding Pakistan’s green cover while raising public awareness about the importance of forests and sustainable environmental practices.
