Qatar’s Emir Congratulates Pakistan on Diplomatic Success Behind US-Iran Ceasefire Agreement

ISLAMABAD — Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has congratulated Pakistan on its successful diplomatic efforts that led to the signing of the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran, aimed at securing a ceasefire and advancing peace in the region.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call from the Emir of Qatar during which the two leaders held a warm and cordial conversation.

The statement said Sheikh Tamim praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating peace efforts and commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership in helping bring about the landmark agreement between Washington and Tehran. The Qatari leader also reaffirmed his country’s full support for Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Emir of Qatar for his continued support and cooperation in the peace process. He said the achievement was made possible through the tireless efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the constructive role played by brotherly countries, including Qatar.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the first round of technical-level talks held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, and emphasized the importance of maintaining the momentum of positive developments to ensure the success of the negotiations. They agreed that the dialogue process should be protected from any attempts to undermine it.

During the conversation, the Emir of Qatar also expressed deep sorrow over the death of a Pakistani national in a fire incident at the Barzan gas facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City. Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked him for his condolences and appreciated Qatar’s leadership for its generous hospitality toward the Pakistani community residing in the Gulf state, which now exceeds 300,000 people.

Recalling his visit to Doha earlier this year, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif renewed his invitation to the Emir of Qatar to visit Pakistan. Sheikh Tamim expressed his desire to undertake a visit later this year to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional developments.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and consultations in the coming days to further strengthen bilateral relations and support ongoing peace efforts.
