‘The Sopranos’ Star Vincent Pastore Dies at 80, Tributes Pour In

NEW YORK: Veteran American actor Vincent Pastore, best known for his portrayal of Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero in the acclaimed HBO crime drama The Sopranos, has died at the age of 80, his manager confirmed. Pastore was found at his home on City Island in New York after he had not been heard from for several days. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Pastore earned widespread recognition for his role as Tony Soprano’s close friend who later became an FBI informant, appearing in 30 episodes of The Sopranos. His performance made him one of the series’ most memorable characters and cemented his place in television history.

Beyond The Sopranos, Pastore enjoyed a career spanning more than four decades, frequently portraying mobsters and tough-guy characters in films such as Goodfellas, Awakenings, and Carlito’s Way. He also appeared in several reality television programs, including Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars.

His longtime manager, Bob McGowan, remembered Pastore as a generous and loyal individual who was always willing to support charitable causes and encourage aspiring actors. Fellow Sopranos cast members, including Michael Imperioli, led tributes, describing him as a beloved colleague and friend whose warmth extended well beyond the screen.

Born in the Bronx in 1946, Pastore served in the U.S. Navy before pursuing acting. He is survived by his daughter, Renee Pastore. His passing marks the loss of one of television’s most recognizable character actors, whose work left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
